Student Clubs

The DCPSO is committed to helping students and families engage in existing clubs and enrichment programs and are actively seeking out new opportunities to meet student needs. We know club participation is beneficial for students social-emotional well-being and growth.

Chess Club	Looking for adult coaches for 2024-2025! Outreach the DCPSO Clubs Chair to sign up to volunteer and learn more: [email protected]		1x week for 1 hour	Grades K-5 Students learn and practice chess skills with their friends. Adult coaches support teaching chess.
Choir	Angie Serrano: [email protected] Sign up form for choir here	Cost: Free	1X a week on Tuesday mornings starting in October	Grades 2-5 Optional vocal program. They serve the school and community by hosting events that align with our monthly Character Counts activities and No Place for Hate, support the Holiday Helpers program for families in need, and participate in the Safety Team, Beautification Team, and Positivity Team on campus!
First Lego League Explore	[email protected]	Registration Form at beginning of school year Cost: Family Funded	vary depending on assigned team	Grades K-3 Students use legos, block-based programming, and an ipad-activated wedo motor to build a team project. Older teams can participate in a Westview expo and Legoland expo
Deer Canyon Unity Robotics	Won Kim: [email protected]	Registration Form at near end of school year starting in May to join the following school year. 3rd graders can register for the following school year. Cost: Family Funded	vary depending on assigned team	Grades 4-5 Students work in parent-coached teams and participate in FIRST Lego League Challenge. New students will have a summer coding lesson.

Several team and individual competitions throughout the year. Annual awards celebration. Family participation is required
Girls on the Run Club	[email protected] Interest form for the Spring 2025 season at Deer Canyon here	Cost: $275 for a 10 week session	2 afternoons a week, determined by coaches	For 3-5th grade Girls Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
Musical Theatre	Angie Serrano: [email protected]	Registration form will come out via Echoes in late August	Thursday afternoons for 90 minutes at Deer Canyon	Grades 1-3 (Primary) Grades 3-5 (Secondary) Students can participate in a primary musical or secondary musical theatre workshop. Students spend 10 weeks working with two directors learning acting, singing, and performing skills. Each mini musical will have a presentation at the end of the 10 weeks. Cost $150 for a 10 week session. Sessions run September-December and late February-May.

For 3-5th grade students

After school hands-on science enrichment program. Science Minded believes in making Science and STEM a very fun and exciting experience that fosters each child’s love for the subject while teaching them critical thinking and leadership skills. All of the units are project-based and are taught in a collaborative environment.
