President

The PSO President serves as the general manager of the organization, overseeing daily operations, officer roles, and all PSO activities. They lead communication, coordinate closely with the school administration, support event planning, manage board meetings, and maintain oversight of financial matters. The President ensures that all actions align with the mission of the PSO and works to foster collaboration between the board, chairs, staff, and school community.

VP Programs

The VP of Programs leads the planning and execution of events hosted by the PSO for staff and teachers, welcome-back activities for students and families, and school assemblies throughout the year. This role works closely with the PSO President, school principal, and other volunteers.

VP Fundraising

The VP of Fundraising sets annual fundraising goals and develops strategies to meet the PSO’s financial needs. They lead the planning and execution of the Direct Ask Fall Campaign and collaborate with event chairs for major fundraisers such as Readathon, Deer Dash, and DC Dining.

This role also explores additional fundraising opportunities (e.g., corporate sponsorships, fun nights out, auctions) and helps track and share progress with the school community throughout the year to encourage ongoing support.

Treasurer

The Treasurer manages all financial aspects of the PSO, including receiving, safeguarding, and disbursing funds. They oversee fundraising income, track budgets, renew approved subscriptions, ensure legal compliance, and provide financial transparency through regular reporting. The Treasurer works closely with the President to develop the annual budget, partners with the VP of Fundraising on fundraising efforts, and coordinates with the PSO’s financial secretary to ensure compliance with all financial regulations.

The Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation for the PSO, including meeting minutes, and correspondence. They ensure all board meeting documentation is updated and organized. The Secretary also handles scheduling tasks such as updating Facilitron for PSO events.

The Compliance Coordinator serves as the PSO’s Parliamentarian, ensuring that meetings and decisions follow the organization’s bylaws and governance procedures. This role facilitates board elections, oversees voting processes, manages bylaw updates, and helps maintain organizational integrity.

The Financial Secretary supports the Treasurer in managing PSO funds, particularly around the handling and documentation of cash and check transactions. This role ensures financial transparency by organizing backup documentation for deposits and withdrawals, helping with reconciliations, and assisting with petty cash needs for events.

Art Adventure Chair | Poorvi P

Coordinates with classroom volunteers to bring art enrichment lessons to students. In charge of purchasing materials, updating the optional lesson plans, and support to ensure a successful and fun art experience across grade levels.

Book Fair Chair | Cara W

Plans and executes a week-long book fair, selecting and coordinating with a vendor of their choice (e.g., Scholastic). Oversees setup, volunteer scheduling, and daily operations during the event.

Organizes and manages after-school clubs. Promotes for parent led-club coaches for clubs and in collaborate with VP Programs, plans the Club Fair.

Manages the weekly “Echoes” newsletter. Ensures families stay informed about school events, volunteer opportunities, and PSO updates.

DC Connection | Kristina B

Organizes parent social events throughout the year to build community, such as coffee meetups, movie nights, lunches, or themed gatherings.

DC Dining Chair | Poorvi P

Partners with local restaurants to organize fundraising nights, where a portion of proceeds goes back to the school. Promotes events to maximize participation and manages the dining schedule throughout the year.

Leads the planning and execution of the school’s annual fun run. Manages fundraising goals, organizes volunteers, and creates a fun, high-energy day for all students.

Family Fun Night Chair | Melissa D

Plans an evening event for families to gather and enjoy games, food, and community-building activities. Coordinates logistics, volunteers, and vendors to create a memorable night.

Family Heritage Night Chair | Sahana C

Organizes an inclusive event celebrating the diverse cultures of the school community. Works with families to showcase food, music, displays, and performances representing various heritages.

5th Grade Promotion &
Celebrations Chair | Eve L

Coordinates yearlong concessions during Deer Canyon events with the proceeds going to 5th Grades. Also, coordinates year-end celebrations and student promotion activities for the 5th graders. Works with school staff and volunteers to create a meaningful event for promoting students.

Holiday Bazaar Chair | Maha E

Coordinates a holiday craft and vendor fair, inviting local businesses and artisans to sell their goods. Manages vendor signups, marketing, and event logistics.

Holiday Shop Chair | Cara W

Leads the planning and execution of a week-long holiday gift shop for students. Selects and coordinates with a vendor, manages setup and breakdown, schedules volunteers, and promotes the event to ensure a fun and organized experience for students to shop for loved ones.

Promotes PSO events and initiatives through flyers, posters, social media, and other marketing channels. Ensures consistent branding and engaging communication for school-wide activities.

Leads the planning of a Halloween-themed celebration for families. Coordinates games, decorations, food, and volunteers to create a festive and safe event.

Performing Arts Chair | Eve L

Supports the choir and musical theater teachers by promoting their programs to students. Helps with student sign-ups, collects fees for musical theater participation, and assists with communication to encourage involvement.

Read-a-thon Chair | Dani C

Manages the school-wide reading fundraiser. Sets up the online platform, promotes reading goals, tracks participation, and oversees prize distribution.

STEAM Night Chair | Amit D

Plans a hands-on evening event focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Coordinates vendors, activities, and interactive stations to engage families in learning.

Talent Show Chair | Jaime H

Organizes the school’s talent show, including auditions, rehearsals, staging, and emceeing. Works with volunteers to help students showcase their talents.

Tech Chair | James L

Manages and maintains the PSO’s technology needs, including overseeing the Google Workspace (creating new email accounts, assisting with password resets) and keeping the PSO website updated with current information and events.

Volunteer Engagement Chair | Donna C

Manages outreach and coordination of volunteers for various PSO events and school activities. Maintains a volunteer database and helps match helpers with opportunities. Also serves as the Room Parent Coordinator, acting as a liaison between teachers and room parents to support classroom needs and communication.

Winter Recital Chair | Zhiwen X

Organizes the winter recital featuring students who play musical instruments. Coordinates sign-ups, schedules performances, manages logistics for the event, and ensures a smooth and supportive experience- similar to the Talent Show but focused solely on instrumental acts.

Yearbook Chair | Razan L

Leads the creation of the school yearbook by taking photos at events, collecting photos from parents, and organizing content. Coordinates with classroom volunteers and provides guidance on how to create and submit a yearbook spread for their class.
